Hi All,
Looking forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday 6th September at 8.50am.
See you in the playground.
Mr Cooke
We are always looking for new ways to improve communication with all members of the school community. The school blog has been invaluable at keeping parents informed about important school events.
We would like to introduce a new area of the website.
http://podcast.plymouthgrove.net
You can also find it in the “School Blogs” section of this page.
This will be a monthly news report and celebration of some of the events taking place around the school. We hope that it will be an exciting project for some of our aspiring writers within school.
If you are in years 4-6 and would like to think about being part of a MEDIA club start to have a think about what ideas you would like to include in the podcast.

The school year comes to an end on Friday 16th July and we will be saying some goodbyes and hellos. We especially wish all our Year 6 children success in the future as they move on to High School.
Our lunchtime organisers Viris Bonner, Sheila Gorton and Sheila Gordon will be retiring in July after many years service to Plymouth Grove School. On behalf of staff, children and parents I would like to thank them for everything they have done for the children of the school.
Miss Murphy (reception teacher) will be leaving us in July to take up a post closer to her home. We wish her all the best in her new role. We will also say goodbye and thank you to Julie Ogden (Year 1 teacher) who has been with us for two and a half years; we wish her well for the future.
Mrs Eyre (nursery teacher and foundation stage team leader) will be starting her maternity leave in July. She is a fantastic leader and a great support as teacher governor. We wish her health and happiness with her new arrival.
Asifa Quadratullah (teaching assistant in Year 1) will be leaving us in July. Thank you for your support in Year 1 this year.
We welcome three new arrivals to Plymouth Grove. Mrs Amin will be the new nursery teacher and Ms Fielden will be the new reception class teacher. Mr Stringer will be joining us in Year 6.
We currently have three vacancies for parent governors. A letter was sent out on Friday 9th July regarding nominations. Further copies our available from the school office.

Thank you for everyone’s help and support in encouraging good attendance at school. Since January the school has an average of 95% attendance which is a great improvement
The school has achieved the Sing Up silver award for the progress made in developing singing throughout the school. Many thanks to Miss Wakefield who has worked so hard to support the staff and children in achieving this award. As part of the chorister outreach programme the school choir recently performed at Manchester Cathedral . It was a real highlight of the year and well supported by 30 parents. The choir also performed at the Royal Northern College of Music, another spectacular performance.
Our African Drummers performed on Thursday 8th July at the Manchester Music Service Showcase event at The Royal Northern College of Music. They opened the show with four breathtaking pieces. The children have practised all year with the help of Mr Bucknor and Miss Challis and this performance showed just how hard they have worked. Congratulations!
SCHOOL CLOSES AT 1.30pm ON FRIDAY 16TH JULY.
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY
A great result for a great party.
140 children and parents were able to enjoy the England v Slovenia match in the school hall on Wednesday afternoon. Families were able to take part in quizzes, have their faces painted and try the refreshments baked by Ms Zeb and Year 5 and 6 children. Despite a dodgy moment when the projector decided it was too hot we enjoyed great coverage on the big screen. A huge cheer went up when England scored but we were still left to bite our nails for the last 10 minutes. Thank you for everyone’s help and support.
Will England beat Germany? Go to the sports’ pages and leave your comment.
Congratulations to all 25 children who performed so well at Manchester Cathedral tonight. The choir, conducted by Miss Ruth Wakefield, performed two songs as part of the Sing Up chorister outreach programme. They also performed a song with three other choirs. I was extremely proud of all the children and many thanks to all the staff and parents who came along to support. The performance was videoed and we hope that this will be shown on the music pages of this blog shortly.
As part of the World Cup celebrations we will be setting up a blog to discuss all matters football and World Cup. You can follow the link to our Sports pages section: http://sports.plymouthgrove.net/. Our opening discussion will be about who you think will win the World Cup in South Africa.
